T'Souke First Nation Solar Community

Named Canada's first Aboriginal solar community, the T'Sou-ke Nation has created an inspiring story for sustainability. Solar electricity now powers their community, while solar hot water systems are installed on forty houses. Solar-powered vehicle charging stations and community greenhouses contribute to the T'Sou-ke Nation's sustainable way of life.

Sooke Country Market

At the Sooke Country Market one can find fresh local vegetables and fruit, freshly baked treats and bread, local crafts, plants and flowers, and jams and jellies. Produce comes from local farms: Silver Cloud; ALM and Red Earth; Three Sisters and others, two of which are certified organic. Preserves from Three Sisters Farm and Carol's Jellicious Jellies are featured as well as Shelia's Coastal Crunch Granola. Fabric craft items, jewelry and more are sold by local artisans. Some vendors are different during the season so visit often!

Ayum Creek Estuary

Ayum Creek is a spawning stream for wild coho and chum salmon, as well as steelhead and cutthroat trout. It anchors the southern end of the Sea-to-Sea Green Blue Belt, a visionary undertaking to create a corridor of protected wilderness and parkland stretching from Saanich Inlet in the east to the Sooke Basin in the southwest. Ayum Creek stream flows through mixed forest and riparian habitat to a small but biologically rich estuary in the Sooke Basin.

Ragley Farm Market

Visitors are welcome at Josephine Hill’s farm market – a sun-filled area of the barn converted to an inviting sales display of fresh produce, preserves, dried fruits and eggs. On Saturdays, customers can buy bread, pies and muffins freshly baked on the same day in a beautifully crafted outdoor masonry oven, lovingly referred to as the Bread Chapel.

Open April to December, saturdays 11:00am-3:00pm, with coffee and muffins available for early birds at 10:30am but you have to wait for the bell to ring at 11 before you can buy produce!

Sooke Park & Ride Bike Lockers

Ride your bike to the Sooke Park & Ride, a convenient location on Highway 14 at Sooke River Road, and take transit the rest of the way! The Sooke Park & Ride was expanded in 2010 to include a total of 99 parking stalls, 2 bike lockers that have storage for 4 bikes, and bike racks. The park and ride is a well-lit, safe place to park your bike, and the community in Sooke has been involved every step of the way. In 2011, the bike lockers were painted by Edward Milne Community School students, showing local interest and support by Sooke residents in sustainable mobility.

Drive your car to the Sooke Park & Ride, a convenient location on Highway 14 at Sooke River Road, and take transit the rest of the way! The Sooke Park & Ride was expanded in 2010 to include a total of 99 parking stalls. The park and ride is a well-lit, safe place to park your car, and the community in Sooke has been involved every step of the way. The bus shelters feature student art as well, and the park and ride facility is landscaped with native groundcovers.
