The University of Victoria’s Equity and Human Rights office is committed to practices of equity, fairness and inclusion, and seeks to develop equitable access in employment and educational opportunities. The Human Rights Education Volunteers initiative promotes inclusive, respectful and welcoming study and work environments on campus. The program provides trained volunteers with the opportunity to design and facilitate educational workshops for members of the university community.

The Project Based Language Training Program provides short term language training to support newcomers in finding work. In Victoria, classes offered are: English for Career and Professional Integration, English for Construction and Engineering, and English for Health Careers. The program is FREE for permanent residents.

The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria provides support and tools for newcomers while helping other organizations connect across cultures. Parenting programs, a family counseling service, and men’s and women’s programs are available.
