South Woods encompasses the area outside Ring Road between Henderson Road to the west, Cedar Hill Cross Road to the south, and Mystic Vale to the east. It is a second-growth forest containing Douglas Fir, grand fir, bigleaf maple and Garry oak trees, as well as plentiful shrubs and bushes. It is crossed by several walking and hiking paths.
