The Port Renfrew Wastewater Treatment Plant discharges secondary treated wastewater into Port San Juan through an 81-metre long outfall at a depth of three metres below sea level. Wastewater is monitored monthly for flow, total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand, fecal cloriform bacteria and nutrients.
